Dr. Hugh Haynes passed away March 5, 2008 from injuries suffered in a biking accident. Born Aug. 30, 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas, Hugh graduated from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and became a doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. He practiced for more than 20 years and delivered many Lubbock babies, including one during the Lubbock tornado of 1970. Through most of his medical career he practiced at The Women's Clinic in Lubbock. He was also a marathon runner and avid biker. He completed over 50 marathons and some ultra-marathons. At the time of his death he was regularly biking 300 miles a week. Hugh died doing what he loved. In addition to biking, he loved hiking, running, camping and caring for animals. He was a former Race Director for the WTRC Horseshoe Bend Canyon Runs. Hugh was loved by his family, patients and colleagues..and is now running and biking in heaven. He will be missed.
